We are delighted to bring to you the romantic and fairytale wedding of Muneera and Norman. Norman is Jamaican and Muneera is biracial (Indian & & African American). When Norman set his eyes on Muneera, he knew there was something special about her and he couldn’t let her go just by. Muneera locked eyes with Norman when they passed each other. “I immediately knew I was attracted to her, “he recalls. They exchanged glances, smiles and had a brief conversation during lunch break. Norman asked for Mun’s phone number but she refused giving it to him and instead collected his. “Give me a call!” Muneera promised she would, and she didn’t. He was hoping for a second chance to meet her, and to his amazement, it had actually happened.
Now get ready for some beautiful wedding pictures as Muneera shares their amazing love story with us…Enjoy!!
How We Met
The Bride
I was doing some quick shopping during lunch break and Norman walked up to me. We had a brief conversation and he asked for my number so we could continue talking another day, instead, I took his. A month passed by before we actually spoke again and our first phone conversation was very long. We had so many interests and personality traits in common! After several phone conversations, he decided to cook for me and invited me to his house to eat. Norman is Jamaican and his cooking is AMAZING!!! The way to my heart is through my stomach.
When The Time Is Right
Norm proposed to me at friends Christmas dinner at our house. We invite our close friends every year before Christmas for fun (games, food and drinks). At the end of the night when everyone was getting ready to leave, Norm got up and thanked everyone for coming, he then got on one knee and began the proposal. Everyone in the room was COMPLETELY caught off guard, especially me! There are so many videos on social media of me crying like a big baby J
The Wedding
We are both into fashion, anything luxury related, and travel! With detailed décor, and colors in mind, we wanted a fabulous wedding that incorporated all of that! We used aqua, silver, white, and different shades of fuchsia and purple floral throughout the wedding. Many would say that’s too many colors but using pops of color (moderately), definitely enhanced the natural beauty that lies in the Caribbean! Don’t be afraid to do what makes you happy! The weather was beyond AMAZING. Our photographer, makeup artist, and decorator made everything a dream come true! I couldn’t have been more blessed than to have a great team to help me create our dream wedding. I also had a great time doing DIY projects such as bling table numbers, peacock fan programs, reception dinner menus and welcome bags that included drawstring backpacks, first aid kits, and snacks for all of our guests. We had about 100 people at our destination wedding. We also loved the silver satin linens we used throughout the reception. Of course we can’t forget one of our favorites, the food! It was a must to incorporate real Jamaican food such as jerk chicken, rice and peas, Caribbean fish, festival and more that people would enjoy
Unique & Interesting Elements
Norman is Jamaican and I am biracial (Indian and African American). I incorporated my Indian culture by having my mom wear her sari (an Indian traditional dress). My bridesmaids had henna on their hands and bindi’s on their foreheads. I wore a beautiful headpiece that I got from India. Also, my wedding and ceremony was held outside on the beach and surrounding the pool. Somehow, my cake fell before I had a chance to see it before the reception started 🙂 Honestly, it didn’t bother me one bit. Everyone was shocked since I was completely ok and smiling! Nobody could control the wind, weather, heat, or whatever element that could have caused it to tip over. At the end of the day, that was the best day of my life. My family and close friends witnessed the moment I married my best friend.
Muneera shares some tips for future brides
If anything goes wrong or unexpected, don’t even spend one second wasting time worrying about minor things. Spend every second enjoying your life changing joyous experience with your husband family and friends! FYI, since we had a destination wedding weekend, the next day my sister-in-law made a bread pudding in Jamaica during a dinner with everyone included and we used that for our cake cutting! It was hilarious but so perfect!
