Genuinely speaking, Ope and Ayo officially met almost a year before they started dating during a brief encounter at a church service. It wasn’t their time yet neither was it love at first sight. On the night they met, Ayo’s words to Ope were not encouraging that night and Ope wasn’t impressed . It was Ayo’s first time in church and the following Sunday, he couldn’t resist not going back to the same church because he found something Special. Ayo got Ope’s contact details from one of her close friends and the rest they say is history. “I’ve felt since day one like I’ve known Ope all of my life,” says Ayo. “We had instant chemistry, respect and affection for each other. We’ve been inseparable since that watch night service”.
We just can’t help falling in love with this lovely couple, they have a great humor and they are literally good dancers…..you need to watch their dance moves below to see how right we are! But before you do, enjoy their beautiful love story.
How We Met
We met at crossover service- Watchnight 2011. He was new face at church so I did notice him and I introduced myself – I remember he commented on my singing ” you have a really nice voice but you cracked a little bit” imagine!! It wasn’t love at first sight – after all he did just insult me lol…. but he came to church the following sunday and we reintroduced ourselves. A few weeks later he asked for my contact from one of my church sisters. We started talking via BBM – then it became skype and calls, then dates and here we are today 🙂
The Beautiful Proposal
I had organised a New Year’s day party at my house and invited friends and loved ones. Little did I know that Ayo was organizing something else. After a lot of food, fun and games, all the guests congregated to share what they were grateful for in 2012 – Ayo was strategically the last person! He started speeching about how we started, how he loves me and my family so much and 2012 was an excellent year for him because of me *I blushed*. He said so many sweet things – he even said he may not be the most handsome and he has pimples all over his face lol. Before I knew it he was on one knee, everyone was screaming and I saw bling!
FUN FUN AND MORE FUN!!!!! Our wedding was simply about having fun. We both love music and dancing so you can see why there was so much of that on the day. We also made sure our day was all about us! We had planned every detail of the day together from choosing venues to choreography of our first dance and it was amazing to see all our efforts come to fruition. It was literally the best day of our lives.
Our Wedding Unique Element
Ayo surprised me with a song named after me *feeling like a celebrity* – please find the link attached. Ayoluvmi sings for his wife “Opeyemi”. In the build up to the wedding, people kept asking if we were going to sing to each other since we both sing however we agreed not to because people would expect that from us. However, Ayo had his own plans – the best surprise ever!
We choreographed our first dance together – I honestly think that relieved the potential stress of wedding planning. We would set aside time to perfect our moves, create new moves and just have a lot of fun really
