We’ve said it before…but this New year is going to be the Season of Love……and today’s couple captivated us from the beginning. This was a full day African Pre Wedding Experience captured by the talented Archyra
Rebecca and Shem just wanted to be friends but as fate will have it, they are loving each other the more. Their love story will make you giggle and makes you believe in real love the more.
Our name is Shemecca! That’s a combination of Shem+ Rebecca, a darling friend of ours Sinmi, christened us with the joint name as she was trying to save her breath calling us separately!
We met in 2011 in Manchester United Kingdom and all you fascinated to know is that the clichéd phrase ‘opposite attracts’ is very true. We are completely opposite of each other in absolutely everything, and that makes our relationship very exciting. He’s from East Africa and I’m from West Africa. He loves to eat anything sweet and I don’t. I love reading, considering I’m a writer and he can’t read a book to save himself instead he’s obsessed with cars, he is calm and peaceful and I am ______ (you can fill in the gap). I love taking walks while he would rather drive everywhere if possible; we have resulted to seeing ourselves as a zebra crossing’ we can only complement each other.
We sincerely didn’t plan to date or be a couple, we just wanted to be friends, hang out and talk that is all. Neither of us knew what was in the future, but not long after we met, it seemed obvious that we were meant to be. So we took the relationship on his pace- slow and steady. Although he showed no sign or taking the relationship further until he proposed.
Our first date was in the cinema, I should say because he is so sly that is the only guy who has ever caught me off guard, I’m not joking. I usually smell a guy’s trick miles away. I knew I liked him because I didn’t sleep at the cinema (all my friends know I sleep off in the cinema). We watched ‘Paul’ and I laughed throughout, don’t think I laughed because the movie was funny, anyways I did.
He proposed a year later, 23.08.2012, we had gone shopping and as expected, he wanted to drive and I wanted to walk. We argued a bit and finally met in the middle. We went for a meal and he was so shy he shivered. Because I’m a smart girl, I picked up he wanted to propose, so I excused myself to the loo to give him time to calm his nerves. I came back, he was much calm and so he proposed and he gave me the most beautiful ring, which is a symbol of what I mean to him. I love sentimental gifts by the way. He’s an embodiment of true love.
