Wearing a blue cap, a gown and a beaming smile, he proudly shows off his graduation certificate.
But Tanishq Abraham, from California, is no ordinary college graduate – he is an 11-year-old prodigy.
The talented youngster, who finished high school last year at the tender age of 10, graduated from American River College in Sacramento with three associate degrees on Wednesday evening.
And he has even grander plans for the future. ‘I want to become a doctor, but I also want to become a medical researcher, and also the president of the United States,’ Tanishq said after his graduation.
Tanishq was in good spirits on Wednesday as he joined hundreds of other graduates, with a multi-colored scarf around his neck and his favorite Toy Story quote on his cap: ‘2 infinity and beyond’.
He was joined at the ceremony by his mother, Taji , a doctor of veterinary medicine who homeschools him, his father, Bijou, a software engineer, and his younger sister, Tiara, who is also a child prodigy.
Tanishq was applauded and cheered as he graduated with three associate degrees in math, and physical sciences, general science and foreign language studies.
He later thanked his parents for their contributions to his learning – and posted several photos of himself and his family having a meal at ‘my favorite restaurant’ to celebrate his graduation.
Tanishq was just four years old when he was accepted to MENSA, a group for people whose IQ is in the top two percent of the population. His younger sister also became a member aged four.
