Maggie and Josh Wakefield ensured their grandmas were part of their bridal party and both stylish women performed their duties pretty well in grey lace dresses. When the couple from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, decided to tie the knot, they made their family matriarchs feel so special on their big day by asking them to serve as flower girls.
“I knew I really wanted to involve my grandmother because she’s like my second mother – she helped raise my sister and me throughout our entire lives,” Maggie Wakefield, 22, tells PEOPLE. When Maggie brought her idea to Josh, she suggested he could ask his grandma to do the same. “He was totally on board,” she says.
The newlyweds who said their vows on the 11th of June are creating a trend in the wedding industry by asking their grandmas to be – flower girl grandmas.
