The love story between Elizabeth and Isaac began in church. Isaac had his eyes on Elizabeth for a very long time, but the game took a unique turn when Elizabeth sent him a text message on his birthday. This opened the door of long lasting friendship for the pair. Like so many love stories from fairytale to happily ever after, Elizabeth and Isaac found love when they least expected.
The proposal was an epic and romantic one. It was so emotional for Elizabeth because she didn’t see the ring coming. Isaac mesmerized Elizabeth on her graduation day and he planned the surprise proposal with the help of the University President. “As he walked closer to me, I saw the ring box sitting in the bell of the saxophone and my heart just started pounding. He then got down on one knee in front of the entire university and asked me to be his wife”, says excited Elizabeth.
The lovebirds love story and beautiful photos captured by Kobi Kenzo Koncepts & Bomaone Photography say it all.
Elizabeth was stunned when he saw Isaac walking towards her …..Watch the romantic proposal in the video below!
Isaac proposed to me in a pretty grand style… At my college graduation ceremony, in front of the entire University of North Texas auditorium. May 9th, 2014 was a day that I had so been looking forward to.… It was finally graduation . As we all filed into the auditorium, with the graduation music playing through the speakers, I searched around for my family and loved ones, but couldn’t seem to spot any of them. I was almost certain that they were all late and hadn’t yet made it. I sent a text message to my then boyfriend, Isaac, asking where they all were and why they were not there, but I got no response. As the time drew closer for me to walk across the stage, I got really nervous because it seemed as though they would all miss it. By the time my name was called I saw my mom, dad and sister all cheering and snapping pics, but still no Isaac. I was very disappointed! He had actually missed me walk across the stage. (Or so I thought).
As the University president began making his closing remarks and congratulating the graduates, he informed us that he had one last surprise that would make this ceremony unique and like no other. All the graduates, including me, were all looking around perplexed at what this man could possibly be talking about.
He then announced that he had invited his friend Isaac Olowogbade to help him. My heart skipped about 3 beats!! A lady walked over to my seat, amongst all the graduates, and asked me to please walk to the front of the auditorium. As she escorted me to the front, Isaac came from behind the stage, playing Kci & Jojo – All My Life on his saxophone. As he walked closer to me, I saw the ring box sitting in the bell of the saxophone and my heart just started pounding. He then got down on one knee in front of the entire university and asked me to be his wife. At that moment, everybody in the auditorium began screaming and cheering, and everybody from my friends, to family, to in-laws, to pastor appeared from the stands. Besides my wedding day, it was the most surreal and amazing experience of my life.
Our Beautiful Beginning
My handsome hubby and I met at our home church, RCCGHGE. We attended the same church for about 4 years, without me having any idea that he was interested in me. As far as I was concerned, he has been just brother Isaac, who played the saxophone at church, and I thought I was just sister Elizabeth, who was known for dancing her tail off during praise worship. We didn’t really know each other on a personal level. One day in October 2012, I received a text message from the secretary of the Singles’ Ministry at our church, stating that it was Isaac’s birthday and that we should endeavor to reach out to him. So I sent a very brief text message to the number that was included, just wishing him a happy birthday. Now fast forward, two months later, to December 2012. A day before my birthday, I received an unexpected phone call, from a number that I didn’t recognize. When I answered it was Isaac, wishing me an early happy birthday. (He said just had to make sure he was the first one). LOL Smooth! That evening was our first time ever talking on the phone, but the connection was just natural and beautiful…. We talked about everything from school to individual life goals, to our favorite place to eat. We talked and laughed for hours.
The next day at church was my actual birthday, so he again wished me a happy birthday and then called me that evening to see if I had any plans to celebrate. When I told him my plan was to just stay indoors and maybe watch a movie with my sisters, he asked if I would like to join him and some friends for frozen yogurt. Since I really had no birthday plans I agreed. (Although it was a group thing and I thought we were just there as friends, we consider it our first “date”, since he insisted on paying for me ) …. After that night, he definitely made it a point to call me very frequently, so we quickly developed a close friendship… The rest is history!!
We courted for a year and a half before he asked me to be his wife, during which time he revealed to me that he had actually been watching me at church for well over a year before I sent him that “Happy birthday” text message. He had even searched for me on Facebook to see if my account was private, and what information he could gather about me before making his approach. So my texting him really just made his job a whole lot easier. LOL He took that perfect opportunity to save my number and patiently wait for the right time to use it.
FUN FACT: 1 month before I text Isaac to wish him a happy birthday, he actually caught the garter at my older brother’s wedding. A wedding in which I was a bridesmaid! At this point he and I had not yet had any conversations. It was one month later that I text him and two months later that we went on our first date. (So I guess that garter thing really does work)
Any unique or interesting elements you want to point out?
- My beautiful mother, Crystals & Cream, single-handedly designed and baked my dream wedding cake (A 14 tier, crystal embellished masterpiece). She and I together also built the crystal cake stand from scratch… That was a serious project to take on, but we got it done and it was gorgeous. Girls rock!!
- The “Royalty” aspect of our wedding theme came from two things; First my husband’s last name, Olowogbade, which translates to “The rich man took the crown”. Second, the fact that I was born in London England at Portland Hospital, which is a famous hospital that many members of the royal family were born in.
- At a point during the wedding reception, my husband just disappeared. Then when I looked to the left of the stage I saw a little commotion going on behind a screen. I had no idea what they were doing behind there until the screen dropped to reveal that my hubby and his groomsmen had set up and entire band for a surprise performance! They performed an entire medley of love songs to me, with my hubby playing the lead on his saxophone. And of course, I cried like a big baby! It was beautiful! That’s what happens when half of the bridal party are musicians!
- Tell us a bit about the wedding in your own words.
Our wedding was everything I wanted it to be, and more! It was beautiful, elegant and so much fun!! The traditional engagement ceremony took place the night before, on Friday May 22nd.2015.
The ceremony started at 2pm on Saturday, with my hubby-to-be playing his saxophone for me to walk down the aisle. He played the same song with which he asked me to marry him, KCi & JoJo – All my Life J Now you see why it holds such a special place in my heart.
We exchanged classic vows, bibles and wedding bands, and of course our smooches, and then danced like nobody was watching. The party literally started at the church, with the whole congregation breaking it down and praising the Lord. It was perfect!
My love and I shared our first dance to Aerosmith – Don’t wanna miss a thing and then sped it up a little and had some fun dancing to Shake body. Once all the formalities were over with, we all danced the night away until we couldn’t dance anymore. We had food in excess and a chocolate fountain that was a hit with all the guests. (I guess the continuous supply of sugar kept everyone fired up)
