[left]Happy Monday guys…..WDN has got a very beautiful real wedding for you. Toyosi & Soji are such an amazing couple and their chemistry is so perfect. We absolutely love their beautiful story which is full of love, emotions, joy, & suspense.
Our Story….How we met By Toyosi and Soji
Soji and I met at a friend’s birthday party. I recall chatting to a friend when Soji “Smooth Talker” walks up and tells me I have got a lovely smile, this instantly made me blush. He introduced himself and we chatted for a few minutes before he left to join his friends. I was mesmerized by his charm (the first time I am admitting this in public lol) .
I recall seeing Toyosi walk into the room, she was so beautiful she left me speechless, something about her stood out. I remember her walking into the room like it was yesterday, black dress and pink shoes. In fact, my boys and I gave her the nick name “pink shoes”. I remember her telling me her name was “Rira”, *insert foneh* and when I said my name was Soji “insert foneh” she immediately replied in that case my name is Toyosi. We both laughed about it and got talking immediately. It was almost as if I had known her for ages. As much as the conversation was flowing, I didn’t want to ruin things by coming on too strong so I decided to leave her for a bit.
I was dancing with a friend when Soji walked up to ask for a dance. We were just getting started when some guy walks up and starts pushing Soji away, they get into a little scuffle and Soji walks away. I didn’t understand what was going on and walked away. The stupid guy nearly ruined it for us lol.
I know, such a stupid guy, thank God he didn’t put salt in my gari lol.
Anyway, it was coming to the end of the party and I was about to leave when Mr Soji pulls me aside to ask for my number. He was so polite and sweet in how he went about it.
Stop making me look so mushy, all I did was apologise for the behaviour of the “stupid guy” and for leaving her stranded with the “stupid guy”. Toyosi accepted my apology and gave me her number.
It was a couple of days before Soji called not that I noticed lol. We spoke for hours and I realised we had so much in common. We had the same mixed background as in half Yoruba, half Edo and we both have twins in both families. My mother is a twin and his younger sisters are twins, for the record I do not want twins!!
Anyway, fast forward to a month and we finally go on our first date. It was such a magically first date, Soji picks me up and takes me to an exquisite thai restaurant on Regents Street called Cocoon. After the meal he orders a carriage to take us to Hagen Daz ice cream parlour in Leicester square. After desert, we walked back to the restaurant to a quiet area reserved for us.
I remember thinking this feels so natural. I even recall Toyosi loosening the belt on her trousers as she had eaten way too much.
Ha ha, that was funny. Like Soji said, it all felt natural, the night was amazing and I remember calling all my girls after the date was over to give details. We continued to see each other and we have been like 2 peas in a pod since then.
I proposed to Toyosi on Valentine’s Day 2012. I decided that after 3 years of being together our love, respect and understanding had blossomed to the point that I had no choice but to take it to the next level. The hints from Toyosi about her not getting any younger also played a part lol.
Getting engaged on Valentine’s Day seemed like the best way to go. I wanted the proposal to have a twist so I didn’t go down the predictable route of booking a candle lit dinner in a restaurant, although I led Toyosi to believe we were going out.
I planned a very intimate and romantic dinner at my place. I chose the intimate setting so we would have the opportunity to spend time cherishing our decision before announcing our engagement to the world.
I had spent weeks planning for the day, firstly I removed all the furniture from the living room (Toyosi doesn’t know till this day where they were stored), I then put the dining table in the middle of the room, placed a white sheet over the table then set the table with place mats, candles, wine glasses, champagne flutes. I then placed candles and rose petals all over the house.
Secondly, for the dinner I made sure it was a 4 course meal comprising all of Toyosi’s favourite meals. For the main course I drove to Kilburn which is about 20 miles from my place. I ordered a massive grilled fish seasoned to perfection with an accompaniment of plantains, then drove to a thai restaurant in Victoria (Mango Tree) to get her favourite starter, grilled prawns with garlic, I also made her another starter of prawn cocktail and avocado. For desert, I scheduled a 9pm pick up from the ice cream parlour 5 miles from us to get her favourite desert of crepes with white chocolate. I reckoned that the best way to her heart was through her belly lol.
Finally, it was time to execute the plan. Toyosi walks into the flat and is amazed, she is speechless as I lead her into the living room; she manages to muster the words, “what’s going on?” “Wow look at the living room”. We begin the 4 course dinner and just as we begin the main course, Toyosi asks “why have you gone to such great lengths for the evening?” I just smiled and cracked a joke and said “if I didn’t I would be in trouble and there she is questioning why I am making the evening special”. Toyosi apologises and continues to eat dinner. After desert, I cleared the dishes and while in the kitchen, hidden from Toyosi I shouted like I hurt myself and Toyosi came running to check on me and there I was on one knee asking my beautiful bride to marry me. Toyosi ran round the sitting room screaming and then came back to the kitchen kissed me and said yes. She started to cry and hugged me.
