We don’t know if there’s a couple who better exemplifies the spirit of WDN Love than Anne and Ike. These two are not only extraordinarily charming people, they are very creative.“Eek!” is the sound we made when we saw Anne and Ike’s DIY wedding, they made almost everything, elegant indeed.
Here is what Anne said about her wedding
I had always had a vision of what my wedding day was going to look like as a little girl but when i actually got engaged I became a scatter brain, lol. It was almost like I couldn’t remember anything i had rehearsed in my heard for over 2 decades. Being an unofficial wedding planner myself, I knew I had my work cut out for me. To be honest it was quite challenging especially since I had to plan the wedding out of state and almost everything was DIY!! The first challenge was finding a one stop location venue (ceremony & reception) that could accommodate 400+ guests and allow us bring in our caterer as we HAD to have Nigerian food at our reception! The next and most challenging was setting and sticking to a realistic budget as most brides can relate to how expensive things get once vendors hear “wedding” in the same statement as “how much”. In the end we just wanted to have a classy but laid back event , most importantly we wanted our guests to have fun.
We wanted to incorporate our culture into our wedding so we had a few traditional outfit changes during the reception. The candelabra centrepieces were sourced and imported from India. It took 6 months from production to shipping and then finally receiving them after weeks in Customs. I had a lot of DIY’s but the most time consuming one and my favorite of all was the cake stand which was built from ply wood thanks to my hubby and then i painstakingly did all the bedazzling.
WDN wishes the happy couple a blissful marital life together.
