Today, taking the centre stage is the Edo Brides. Edo is of rich cultural heritage as it is seen during their traditional marriage ceremony and clearly in the bride’s attire. You can’t talk about the Edo brides without mentioning their incredible beaded attire.
That is one unique aspect of the entire day. Edo bride are usually adorned in a well detailed woven coral beads, some of which are sewn into their hair in form of a crown-like shape known as “Eto-Okuku” which signifies royalty. They are also adorned in beaded necklaces called “Ivie-uru”, hand beads known as “Ivie-ebo” and earrings which is called “Emi-ehorivie”. Many also go further to wear footwear shoes made with beads. For the Edo bride, it is all about the beads! The outfit cannot be complete without the wrapper. The wrappers are usually of very rich fabric and sometimes worn with gold accents which makes the bride look more like royalty. The fabrics are often of George, lace or the beautiful velvet. The Edo bride is nothing but beauty personified!
