WDN Style Spiration; Awoniyi Adedolapo Shows Us a Side Of Her, We Never Knew About.

We are always thrilled to give various fashion trendsetters a platform to tell us more about themselves as well as see more of their fabulous looks.

Today, we hereby present a styleblogger, a brand influencer and a fashion stylist.

Meet Awoniyi Adedolapo, who goes by the name ‘Style by Dolapo’

Why do you love fashion?
I love fashion because fashion is the best way to express myself. Fashion is life to me. After God, that’s the next thing am passionate about. Every aspect of fashion is really important to me.

What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion is an art and it’s a way of life. It’s an integral part of every individual. It is not just what we wear, it is lifestyle. It determines most of our choices like where to go for a vacation, what we wear as well as our perspective on things. Fashion is life

How did you come up with your style name?

The name ‘Style by Dolapo’ came from my real name ‘Dolapo’.

‘Style by Dolapo’ means ‘Dolapo’s personal and definition of style’ in terms of what style means to me.

How did you start your style blog?

I started when I was a student at the Obafemi Awolowo University, but not as a professional style blogger rather just a fashion enthusiast, that would post whatever she wears to church on Sunday on her instagram page.

I noticed I was getting an amount of attention so I decided to leverage on it when I graduated. I created my blog www.stylebydolapo.com and I decided to go professional.

What were your influences?

My fashion influences were majorly style bloggers like Style Pantry, Empress Jamila and designers like Mai Atafo as well as Toju foye.

How would you describe your style?

Simply a little bit of Sophistication and Elegance.

What is this season’s trend that fits your style the best?

Stripes trend has been everywhere for now and am loving it. The athletic inspired pieces as well as the corset trend can be keyed in too.

What are the trends you wouldn’t embrace?

The choker trend, overly ripped jeans, colored hair trends are all a ‘no no’ for me.

Also, attaching pink pompoms to everything is one trend I wouldn’t embrace.

If you were to choose an outfit for a red carpet event, what would it look like, and what designer would you think of?

It would be an extremely full wine ball gown with lights (hope you understand what I mean) and the only designer I trust that would pull that off brilliantly is Donamatoshi. She creates beautiful designs that are red carpet worthy.

What are your fashion pet peeves?

My fashion pet peeve that really gets to me and irritates me, is when I see ladies rocking colored synthetic weaves and braids (especially the white color}. It looks extremely off as well as horrible to me. I also do not like turbans. It’s not a bad trend but it’s just not my thing.

Awwww! this is lovely. I love this. Our Nigerian fashion designers are so good that I bet the rest of the world definitely envies us. It’s so nice to see beautiful outfits made by one of us.
