First of all, tell us a bit about yourself & why you love fashion?
My name is Monica Awe-Etuk. I’m a wife, mother of two beautiful young children and lover of all things fashionable and super stylish. I have studied, worked in and lived fashion pretty much all my life and in my perfect world everyone is dressed to kill. I never thought I would make a living inspiring people with style, so I’m grateful that I get to do exactly what I love.
How did you start your style blog and where did the name come from?
I actually started blogging while I was on maternity leave. My sister and
I were both on leave together and she suggested we both take up something for ourselves to spend our time doing. The combination of my clients expressing how they wished they could take me home with them to help them with their wardrobe, and that push from my siblings and friends really gave me that push to go ahead and do it.
How would you describe your style?
My style is totally classic with a modern twist. I love making classic
pieces or as I like to call them “forever pieces” modern, current and on trend.
What is this season’s trend that fits your style the best?
The off the shoulder trend is totally me. This trend is clean, classic,
and very romantic. Also I love my shoulders and this timeless trend totally showcases that.
What are the trends you wouldn’t embrace?
Definitely the high-low crop denim trend. I just don’t think it’s visually appealing. I don’t think I will be trying that this season.
If you would choose an outfit for a red carpet event, what would it look like, and designer would you think of?
For a special red carpet event I would pick a classic Oscar De La Renta strapless dress. Oscar dresses are timeless and exceptionally made. A special occasion deserves a dress that is equally special.
What are your fashion pet peeves?
My fashion pet peeve is when someone exhibits a lack of confidence. Even if you are not sure about what your wearing don’t let anyone see you sweat it. If you decided to put it on and leave the house, own it!
