Odichi and Emeka met on Facebook! Yes, you heard us right, Facebook; and ever since they met, their lives have never remain the same again. On a casual day while Odichi was going through her FB page, she saw Emeka’s profile and sent him a friend request. Emeka accepted her friend request with the intention of knowing her the more. Did we hear you say, one of his prayer points came to pass!
It is amazing how lovers connect and we can’t underestimate the power of social media. Odichi and Emeka have loads in common from traveling to cracking jokes and enjoying each other’s company which make their love wax stronger.
Ever since they had their first date, Emeka knew their was something extra special about Odichi and this prompted him to plan an unforgettable proposal when the time came. ‘ It was perfect. I had always told him that I wanted his proposal to be private, just the two of us, and he chose the perfect spot. Honestly, any spot would have been perfect as long as it was just us. We were both so excited, and couldn’t stop smiling’, says Odichi.
The Beautiful Meeting
IN 2008 I saw a photo of him on Facebook and thought to myself “I should add this guy as a friend, he is very handsome.”He accepted my friend request, and I honestly didn’t think anything would come of it. Months went by, and I was invited by a friend to go to a party in LA. At first I didn’t want to go, but then I found out that he was flying in from New York to come to the SAME party, so I dragged my sister Onyinyechi with me to the party. After hours of waiting he finally strolled into the party with his friends. He came up to me, we greeted each other, and took a photo together. That was it. No conversation. Nothing. A few days later I posted the photo we took on Facebook, and I sent him a message saying that is was nice to finally meet him. We started messaging back and forth and a friendship blossomed. I was happy with our friendship, but every once in awhile he would ask if he could take me out on a date & I would think to myself and say No. Eventually I thought to myself, “what am I so afraid of?” So I decided to give him a chance. I messaged him and said “next time you are in LA i’ll buy you a burger. That will be our date.” He replied with “Ok.” Two days later I got a call from him and he says “I’m at LAX, i’m here for my burger” I was in SHOCK!! I couldn’t believe that he flew all the way from New York just to have a burger with me. I started to think of excuses, but then I felt bad and decided to keep my word. We went to In & Out Burgers and had our very first date. I was very impressed by how much of a gentleman he was, but I still kept my guard up. He flew back to New York and messaged me on Facebook saying that he couldn’t stop thinking about me & that he needed to see me again. So the very next weekend he flew back to LA again… and slowly but surely our friendship became love.
The lovebirds also shared with us what they mean to each other…..
I LOVE HER BECAUSE..
She is a wonderful woman that loves me unconditionally. She is so loving and caring, and she is always willing to help and inspire anyone. She is great with children, and I know she will be a wonderful mother one day. She is amazing when it comes to communicating, and that is one thing I really love about her. She is a fast learner, who is always outgoing in all aspects of life. She motivates me when I am down, and she even sings to me to brighten up my day. I love her cooking skills, and she looks absolutely beautiful in her dresses when we go out on dates. She never quits on herself, so I know she will never quit on our love, relationship and marriage.
I LOVE HIM BECAUSE..
He is the man I prayed for. He loves me despite my flaws, and supports all of my dreams. He is a God fearing man with a HUGE heart, that prays for me every day. I truly admire him, because he taught me that dreams do come true. He is so smart, loving, hard working, and the most adventurous man I know. His passion for travel and aviation always fascinates me. His friendship means the world to me, because we can talk and laugh for hours. I pray that we will be blessed to one day be an elderly couple holding hands and cracking jokes.
The Memorable Proposal
IT WAS EARLY in the morning, and Emeka wanted us to take a stroll on the beach before having breakfast. The beach was practically empty since it was around 7am. I had a feeling something would happen, but I played it cool as we walked hand and hand. We walked for about 15 minutes until we came to a spot that I immediately remembered. It was a spot where we had taken many photographs in the past, because it had the perfect view of the ocean water. While we were both looking out at the ocean, he got down on one knee, pulled out a beautiful ring and asked me to be his wife. It was perfect. I had always told him that I wanted his proposal to be private, just the two of us, and he chose the perfect spot. Honestly, any spot would have been perfect as long as it was just us. We were both soooo excited, and couldn’t stop smiling. I remember us both glancing at each other with silly grins on our faces, like kids in a candy store. Emeka confessed to me that he wasn’t even able to sleep the night before because he was so excited. That evening both of our families came together to celebrate our engagement. It was so beautiful to see our families speaking Igbo together, and the joy on our parents faces. A few days later we hopped on a plane for a 10 day “Engagementmoon” trip to Costa Rica! The entire experience was like something from a movie. We both know that it was all God’s doing, and we are forever grateful for every moment.
